The International Association of Black Athletes (IABT) Lands National Partnership with Cengage Learning to Assist Those Living Below Poverty Levels In Communities Across the Country.
Baltimore, MD. - The International Association of Black Triathletes (IABT) becomes the first and only multisport, female and women-owned nonprofit to partner with Cengage Learning. This partnership enables IABT to expand their workforce development initiatives aimed at reducing the deficit of youth and young adults living below the poverty level while increasing opportunities in college and career readiness, job creation, and internship placement through the sport of triathlon and other industries through fundamental and certification pathway e-courses, worldwide.
For the last six years, we have been enhancing our current model to meet our mission of providing advancement for urban youth and communities they represent through the sport of triathlon by being a gateway in reducing academic and health disparities and increasing opportunities for collegiate studies, internships, and economic development, says CEO, Dr. Tekemia Dorsey. With a national corporate partnership with Cengage Learning, this approach allows IABT to change the narrative and the trajectory of current and future generations in underserved and underrepresented communities. What we continue to learn through the CoVID19 and its impact on industries, companies, families and individuals is that yesterday is gone and tomorrow starts a “New Norm!” We are ready to assist those in understanding the potential their new norm can possess in the comfort of their own home and in a way that is not overwhelming in and through the sport of triathlon. It’s a formula for continual success. We are looking to roll our new platform and courses within the coming weeks.
“Business experts have said for years if you want to have successful economic development, you have to improve the skills of the areas’ workforce. For those coming from urban communities, who often lack resources or access to programs, that can be easier said than done, however, the newly formed partnership between The International Association of Black Triathletes and Cengage Learning seeks to change that. The training provided by IABT and their career pathway model coupled with the educational and technical training provided by Cengage Learning, will undoubtedly produce candidates prepared for the everchanging workforce not just locally, but globally"
Kimberly Scroggins, CESP
“IABT in partnership with Cengage Learning will be providing an amazing service to the youth within the communities they serve. I highly recommend IABT and Cengage Learning for your community”
